Tower Classic Raises Record-Breaking $68K for Johns Hopkins

We are excited to report that the June 7 TowerCares Foundation Tower Classic Golf Tournament broke its own fundraising record, raising $68,725—the highest amount in the event's 41-year history—to help critically ill children receiving care at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center (JHCC) in Baltimore. The annual tournament has helped raise more than $1 million for JHCC over the years.

The 2024 Tower Classic Champion was Sadie Schisler, a JHCC patient and ambassador. When Sadie was four years old, a blood test revealed dangerously high blood sugar levels. Alarmed, her pediatrician told her parents to immediately take her to the Children's Center.

There, Sadie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the pancreas cells that produce insulin. Upon returning home, she required finger sticks several times a day to check her blood sugar level, and an insulin needle before every meal.

Today, thanks in large part to the ongoing care she receives at JHCC, Sadie is a happy, energetic seven–year-old. She has learned to successfully manage her diabetes, and helps educate her classmates and others about the disease. Sadie and her mom, Megan, were special guests at the tournament, which had a record turnout of 130 golfers and 50 sponsors, including presenting sponsor Allied Solutions.

Proceeds from the Tower Classic help ensure kids like Sadie and their families receive the care and support they need. To learn more about the TowerCares mission and the organizations we support, visit towercaresfoundsation.org.
