We're excited to announce that Tower is the presenting sponsor of the 2025 Baltimore Orioles' Hats for Heroes program—honoring our military heroes and Veterans. If you're an active duty or retired military, you can get a free, military-themed Tower/Orioles hat at all regular season home games at Camden Yards. Both Tower and the TowerCares Foundation remain deeply committed to honoring our military heroes, Veterans, and their families, and the Hats for Heroes program is just one more way we say "Thank You" for your service to our country.
To further support military families and Veterans, our TowerCares Foundation recently made a special $20,000 donation to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, presented during the O's home game on Memorial Day.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation empowers military and Veteran caregivers, their families, and our communities through programs, partnerships, and advocacy that drive innovation and sustainable solutions. We are proud to support the Foundation and all they do for our military heroes and Veterans.
On a fun note, your volunteer Chairman of the Board, Arland White, Jr., caught a fly ball from his seat in the stands at the game!
Tower Classic Charity Golf Tournament Breaks All-Time Record!
We have exciting news! This year's Tower Classic Charity Golf Tournament broke its all-time fundraising record, raising $72,420 to help critically ill children receiving care at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center (JHCC) in Baltimore. The annual tournament, now in its 42nd year, has helped raise more than $1.1 million for JHCC over the years! We do it for the children. Children like Emme and Elle.
Twin sisters Emerson "Emme" and Elle were born at just 25 weeks gestation at JHCC and were given less than a 15% survival rate. More bad news followed—both babies were found to have large brain bleeds. Doctors determined that Elle's condition would likely heal on its own, but Emme's condition was more severe. Her parents were told it was unlikely that she would ever walk or talk.At just 21 days old, Emme had her first brain surgery, with doctors placing a shunt to drain excess cerebral fluid. However, the shunt did not perform as intended, so a second procedure was required to place a new permanent shunt to help relieve pressure on her brain.
Though both babies were able to go home after 106 days in the hospital, the difficult journey continued for Emme. She needed two more brain surgeries before her first birthday. Then, before her second birthday, Emme had multiple seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
At age four, Emme had a fifth brain surgery. That same year, she hit a huge milestone by walking independently for the first time!
By age six, the medication for controlling Emme's seizures stopped working and she underwent yet another brain surgery. Amazingly, just five days after the successful surgery, she was walking again.
Today, Emme is thriving, scoring high in math, joking with her friends, and playing games. Elle, who also had to overcome so much, continues to thrive as well. She loves her sister and is full of compassion and empathy, wanting to make sure no one ever feels left out.
The girls' dad, Kevin Thomas, was an honored guest at this year's Tower Classic, sharing their inspiring story and expressing gratitude for the amazing care Emme and Elle have received at the Children's Center over the years.
Proceeds from the Tower Classic help ensure critically ill children in our community and their families receive the care and support they need. To learn more about the TowerCares mission and the incredible organizations we support, visit towercaresfoundation.org.
