Tower Employees Give Back on 9/11 Day of Service
Service in Action
As part of a weeklong volunteer effort, Tower employees:- Delivered a special thank-you lunch on 9/11 to first responders at eight local firehouses as a small gesture of appreciation for their courage and dedication.
- Prepped and packaged more than 200 pairs of new children’s pajamas for local hospitals through the Casey Cares Foundation.
- Inventoried $10,000 worth of sports equipment for children in need in Baltimore City through Leveling the Playing Field.
- Placed stickers on 500 books for military kids through United Through Reading.
- Prepared financial literacy materials for children through Junior Achievement of Central Maryland.
- Spruced up the grounds at Maryland Therapeutic Riding, which provides equine therapy for injured soldiers and Veterans.
- Sorted and organized donations at three Maryland food banks to help fight food insecurity.
“Tower’s team brought such energy to Casey Cares!” said Erin Ritter, Deputy Associate Director of the Casey Cares Foundation. “They jumped right in to roll and pack pajamas, turning their team-building experience into something that will have a real impact on children in hospitals and their families. We’re so grateful they chose to spend their time with Casey Cares giving back and helping us bring a little more comfort and joy to kids when they need it most.”

Their effort in preparing 500 books ensures that local military families will stay connected through the power of story time. United Through Reading is deeply appreciative of their generous support."
A Culture of Giving Back
Through the credit union’s Tower Gives Back program, full-time employees can take up to 16 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer with charities supported by the TowerCares Foundation, Tower’s philanthropic arm.
“We’re grateful for every employee who chose to give their time and energy to help others as part of the 9/11 National Day of Service,” said Rick Stafford, Tower’s President & CEO. “We’re also thankful for our first responders and charity partners who make our neighborhoods stronger every day.”
Honoring the Fallen Through Service
9/11 Day, also known as Patriot Day, provides an opportunity for Americans to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, as well as the first responders, recovery workers, volunteers, and military service members who courageously served in its aftermath.
“On 9/11 and always, we remember those we lost and honor the brave people who stepped forward to help others,” Stafford said. “We are proud to offer our employees an opportunity to carry that spirit of service forward by giving them paid time off to support causes they believe in.”
