10 Smartphone Features That Help You Spend Smarter and Save

Your smartphone is smarter than you think. It's full of hidden tools that can simplify your day, help manage your money, stay organized, and save more without extra effort.

Buy with a tap

Most smartphones come with built-in digital wallets like Apple Pay®, Samsung Pay®, or Google Pay®. Just hold your phone near a contactless reader, and you're done—no digging for your wallet or cash required. This secure, simple feature speeds up checkout and reduces the need to carry multiple cards.

Keep a close eye on finances

Our App includes a financial management tool that makes it easy to track and categorize your spending. Seeing exactly where your money goes can make it easier to spot patterns, find habits to adjust, and set new savings goals.

Never miss a payment

Set up reminders in our App for upcoming bills or loan payments. These quick alerts can help you avoid late fees and missed deadlines, keeping your finances on track without extra effort.

Did you know?

You can set up a real-time alert to receive a notification anytime your Digital Banking account is accessed. It's another safeguard that lets you respond quickly to any unusual activity. To set up the alert, log in to Digital Banking or our App, and go to Alerts & Notifications > Authentication > Digital Banking Access.

You can shop smarter

Using voice assistants on your phone like Siri or Google Assistant, you can quickly compare prices of items you intend to purchase. Just ask your assistant, "What's the price of [item]?" This can lead to better decisions about where to shop and help you find discounts or deals in real time.

Built-in receipt scanners

Most phones now include a built-in scanner through apps like Notes, Google Drive, or Evernote. Snap a picture of your receipts to track purchases and simplify returns. Storing digital copies helps you stay organized and aware of your spending.

Avoid impulse spending

Tools like Screen Time (iPhone) and Digital Wellbeing (Android) show how much time you spend on different apps. Setting daily limits on shopping apps can help reduce impulse purchases and keep your spending in check.

Stay connected without extra costs

Many smartphones support Wi-Fi calling and texting, allowing you to communicate over the internet rather than using cellular data. It's a great way to save if you're on a limited plan or traveling in areas with weak cellular coverage.

Efficiency and cost savings

If your smartphone is integrated with smart home devices, you can manage everything from the temperature to security settings right from your phone. This not only adds convenience to your life but can help reduce energy costs by optimizing usage.

Silence unknown callers

Spam calls are frustrating, but you can block most of them with just a few settings. On an iPhone, go to Settings > Apps> Phone > Silence Unknown Callers. Android phones have a similar feature under Caller ID & Spam. Turn on Filter or Block Spam Calls to send them straight to voicemail and keep your phone quiet.

Keep track of passwords

Keeping track of secure passwords doesn't have to be overwhelming. Dedicated password manager apps—like 1Password or Bitwarden—store and encrypt them safely, saving you time and worry.
