Tower Federal Credit Union Offers Employees Free Health Screenings and More at Annual Health Fair
Laurel, MD—Tower Federal Credit Union realizes its employees have busy lives and may find it difficult to carve out personal time for health and wellness activities. Taking a proactive approach, Tower offered free health screenings, wellness services and more to employees during its annual Employee Health Fair. The health fair was held May 14 at the credit union's Laurel, Md. headquarters and again on May 20 at Tower's Snowden branch in Columbia, Md.
"Tower's annual health fair is such a great benefit to those who attend every year," says Becky Vogt, Human Resources Generalist at Tower, and coordinator of the health fair. "The event gives employees the opportunity to find out where they stand with their personal health and a chance to seek help in areas where they may need to improve."
Approximately 90 Tower employees took advantage of free health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, waist circumference and body mass composition, while enjoying healthy snacks and beverages. After completing their screenings, employees were able to review their results privately with a registered nurse.
In addition to the annual Employee Health Fair, Tower also offers its employees Lunch & Learn seminars, annual fitness challenges, exercise classes and an on-site fitness room. Tower's employee wellness program has received numerous awards, including an Innovation in Wellness Award from the Howard County Health Department. Tower has also received recognition as one of the Baltimore area's healthiest employers by the Baltimore Business Journal.
