Tower’s BOD Chairman Named Volunteer of the Year by NAFCU

Congratulations to Arland White, Jr., Tower’s volunteer Board of Directors Chairman, for being named Volunteer of the Year by the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU)!

The recognition is well-deserved. Arland has been a member of Tower since 1982 when he began his career with the Department of Defense. He has served on Tower’s volunteer Board for almost 20 years and brings to Tower over four decades of experience in finance and accounting. Arland is one to jump in when there is a need, and has previously volunteered for positions on Tower’s Supervisory, Executive Compensation, Budget, Planning, Nominating, and Educating/Training Committees.

Over the past two decades, Arland’s various positions and duties at Tower have given him a unique perspective on the changes that have taken place over time in the financial industry–and at Tower specifically–and the impact those changes have on our members. White recently retired from the DoD after a distinguished 40-year career serving our country.

Arland is known for being approachable, willing to listen and open to new ways of doing things. He strives to keep Tower on pace with the latest technologies and maximize member value.

In addition to serving as Chairman of Tower’s Board, Arland also serves on the volunteer Board of Directors for the TowerCares Foundation, Tower’s philanthropic arm. He has a heart for giving back to the communities that Tower and TowerCares serve, especially when it comes to supporting our military heroes, Veterans, DoD employees, and children in need.

Under Arland’s leadership, Tower was ranked as Maryland’s #1 Best-in-State Credit Union for 2021 and 2022 by Forbes Magazine, and was only one of five credit unions to make the list in 2020. He always keeps top of mind a focus on providing superior service and consistently meeting our members’ financial needs; keeping Tower a secure place that our members can trust as a safe harbor for their accounts; and weighing all decisions based on what the impact would be for Tower and our members, both short- and long-term.
