Tower Federal Credit Union’s Richard Stafford Named to Power 30 Banking & Finance List

The Maryland Daily Record included Tower’s President & CEO Richard Stafford on its 2022 Power 30 List, recognizing the state’s most influential leaders in the banking and financial services industry.

[Laurel, Md.]—The Daily Record has named Richard Stafford, President and CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union, as one of Maryland’s power players on the publication’s second annual Power 30 Banking & Finance List.

The Power 30 Banking & Finance List is composed of the state’s most significant, influential and respected leaders in the banking and financial services industry. The list is chosen by The Daily Record’s editorial leadership team, along with input from readers and other stakeholders.

“Rick has done an outstanding job over the past five years as President and CEO of Tower, as well as President of the TowerCares Foundation, Tower’s charitable arm,” said Arland White, Jr., Chairman of Tower’s Board of Directors. “Tower’s Board was extremely pleased to see Rick named to the Daily Record’s Power 30 List for Maryland. He is most deserving of this recognition not just for what he means to Tower, but also for his leadership and engagement within the credit union industry as a whole. It’s nice to see others outside of Tower recognize him for his leadership, integrity and advocacy.”

Stafford has more than 30 years of leadership in the financial industry with a commitment to member value, integrity, transparency, teamwork, industry advocacy and community involvement.

Since 2017, he has served as President and CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union, the largest federal credit union in Maryland with over $4 billion in assets and more than 200,000 members worldwide.

Stafford has a heart for giving back to the community and also serves as President of the TowerCares Foundation, Tower’s charitable arm that supports military heroes, Veterans and children in need. Under his leadership, to date the Foundation has donated nearly $1.5 million to 79 local organizations and provided 25 college student scholarships.

Stafford also serves on the boards and sub-committees of the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU), the Fort Meade Alliance and the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber, among various other leadership roles in the community.

“I’m honored to be included in the Power 30 list,” Stafford says, “but this recognition really belongs to our Tower team members for their dedication to providing exceptional service every single day.”
