June 2022 Message from the Board Chair—Arland White

On behalf of Tower’s volunteer Board of Directors and entire Senior Management team, I want to thank those of you who participated in Tower’s Annual Meeting on May 10. We chose to host the meeting virtually again this year out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety and health of our members and employees. Changes to Tower’s Board of Directors
There were a few changes to Tower’s volunteer Board of Directors that I mentioned during the Annual Meeting. As has been the case in recent years, a formal election for Tower’s volunteer Board of Directors was not required. The number of candidates approved by the Board’s Nominating Committee equaled the number of vacancies on the Board. Thank you to Pankaj Belani and Monte Dzurenko for your willingness to serve another term on the Board and to help continue to guide and direct our credit union.

The Board also elected by acclimation two new Board members to three-year terms: Marcus Parker and Scott Brown, to fill vacancies as a result of Marie Rowland’s and Alan Smith’s retirement last fall.

Both Marcus and Scott bring to Tower’s Board experience and expertise that are an asset to Tower. Thank you to both for their willingness to serve on Tower’s volunteer Board. And a thank you to Board member Ross Brinson, who stepped up to fill the position of Board Secretary left open by Alan’s retirement.

I frequently mention the importance of volunteerism, and getting involved with your credit union. Thank you to all of the volunteer Board members who give their time and talents to help make Tower the best it can be.

Thank you for your patience during our upgrade
I also wanted to thank all of our members for your patience during our technology upgrade earlier this year. This necessary upgrade will allow us to serve you better and offer enhanced products and digital services.

As with any system change, there were some unexpected challenges and hiccups along the way. I apologize to members who were negatively impacted during the upgrade, and I thank each of you for your understanding throughout the upgrade process and for your continued trust in Tower. I am glad the upgrade is behind us and it was a success, allowing us to be very well positioned for the future.

COVID continues to have an impact
At this writing, COVID cases are again on the rise. And, like many other businesses, Tower has had our share of challenges recently with a number of our employees testing positive for the virus. The health and well-being of our employees and members remains a top priority and we will continue to take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe. On behalf of the entire Board, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding for any disruptions in service these challenges may have caused.

We will continue to support and help our members who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. We are your credit union and we are here for you during the ups and downs of life. Please reach out to us if you are in need of financial assistance due to COVID.

I’m sure we are all looking forward to warmer days ahead and the more relaxed pace of summer. While you’re enjoying neighborhood cookouts and family gatherings, I invite you to talk to your friends and family members who are not yet Tower members about the Tower Advantage and encourage them to join. It is also never too early to sign up young children for Tower membership and give them the best start for a lifetime of financial stability.
