It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of Tower’s long-time Board members. Charles “Charlie” Nossick passed away on November 10 at the age of 82.
Charlie was born in 1936 in Cambridge, Md., and graduated from East New Market High School in 1954. After serving in the U.S. Army, he started his career with the Department of Defense while attending college, earning his Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland in 1977.
He joined Tower in 1962, and served on Tower’s Board of Directors for over 50 years before retiring from the Board in 2017. He held several Board positions during his tenure, including Director Emeritus, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee. Charlie was an active participant with the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU), serving as a featured speaker at NAFCU events and as a leader of breakout sessions on key issues facing credit unions. After his retirement from Tower’s Board, Charlie remained active with Tower events and attended the annual TowerCares Foundation Golf Classic tournament.
“Charlie was a true gentleman, a passionate Tower advocate, and served our country proudly,” says Tower’s President & CEO Rick Stafford. “We greatly appreciated his leadership during numerous transitional moments of Tower’s history. He will be missed.”
“Our condolences go out to Charlie’s family,” says Tower’s Board Chair Marie Rowland. “Charlie was an invaluable member of Tower’s Board of Directors for over half a century. His wisdom and long perspective helped guide and shape Tower, and he always pulled our attention to value for the Tower member. We are thankful for his many years of dedication and service.”
