Tower Federal Credit Union Hosts Fiesta-Themed Luncheon for Employees, Raises Funds for Critically Ill Children

Laurel, Md.—Tower Federal Credit Union held its fifth annual employee appreciation luncheon and "Casual for Kids Day" fundraiser on September 21 at its Laurel, Md., headquarters. The event raised over $1,100 for the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital in Baltimore, Md., a member hospital of the Children's Miracle Network. For a $5 donation, Tower employees dressed casually, wearing jeans, sneakers, and their favorite sports team sweatshirt, T-shirt or jersey.

Tower's department managers coordinated the fiesta-themed luncheon and decorated the credit union's café with festive piñatas, sombreros, and maracas. The event began with a catered Mexican lunch, followed by a fun-filled afternoon where employees played sports games and relays, and won gift cards for local retail stores and restaurants.

"I love the opportunity to help coordinate the annual luncheon and fundraiser. I get a chance to help a worthy charity while showing my appreciation to our employees for all their hard work," says Peggy Stavely, Tower's Vice President of Branch Administration. "The event is also a great opportunity for employees to get to know one another on a personal level in a relaxed environment."

Stavely adds, "I get a kick out of seeing the look of joy on the employees' faces when they playfully compete with one another during game time."

Since 1997, Tower has donated over half a million dollars to local and national charitable organizations.
